SAN
Storage Area Networks (or SANs) are server
to storage networks designed to carry deterministic,
block-level I/O traffic. These networks
typically run over the fibre channel protocol,
which enables the encapsulation of SCSI
for serial transfer. Fibre Channel networks
allow companies to centralize their storage
resources for better data protection, better
storage utilization, and for more effective
administration of their data.
Integrated Data Storage designs and integrates
best of breed SAN solutions from partners
like EMC, Brocade, and Emulex. Prior to
any engagement, we check all interoperability
requirements and write complete statement
of work that wraps around all the products.
Our engineers work along side the vendor
hardware technicians to assure that the
product is properly integrated into the
complete design. Upon completion of a SAN
engagement we deliver a documentation binder
that provides thorough configuration and
support information.
NAS
Network Attached Storage (or NAS) systems
are file servers that typically send data
(files) to clients over a TCP/IP network.
NAS enables the centralization of file servers
onto a highly available system that is easier
to manage, scale, and access. It is an effective
tool that can be used to consolidate large
numbers of file servers or migrate off of
legacy file servers. Key features to look
for when evaluating a NAS device include:
support for CIFS and NFS protocols, support
for Active Directory integration, NDMP backup
support, and network multi-path/path-fail
over support.
NAS is often viewed as a "toaster" or "appliance,"
but when you mission critical corporate data
is stored on a device it should allow for
more features and availability than a "toaster,"
yet still be transparent to the end users.
Integrated Data Storage designs and integrates
best of breed NAS solutions from partners
like EMC. Our engineers work with our customers
to assure that the product is properly designed
and integrated. We also assist customers with
integrating their NAS devices into their backup
and recovery strategy. Upon completion of
a NAS engagement we deliver a documentation
binder that provides thorough configuration
and support information. |
